    Gut

Dear Klaus, We appreciate the time that you took to write this review. As you mentioned, we are a 2 star hotel, and our positive reviews are written by people who visited a 2 star hotel, with the expected standards of a 2 star hotel. For a 2 star hotel we are uncommon and offer much more services than it is expected. Our tip for your next trip: look up in the internet the different standards that apply, and you will understand that we are offering a lot more. Probably, your luggage was not taken by our barman directly to your room. Also, when you arrived I was not in the reception, because we are a family run hotel, and I work in all domains of our business, and sometimes, I even help my guests with the luggage myself, though I am a woman and the owner of the hotel. We do not have 24 hours reception, but we all are here for our guests to help them, independently if we are in the reception, in the bar, or anywhere else in the hotel. This is what our satisfied guests appreciate in our style of welcoming them. Dear Klaus, it is true that starting from a 4 star and continuing to a 5 star hotel you have a porter for your luggage and in a 5 star hotel you will have a reception open 24h: those are the standards regulating all hotels. If having a person who carries your luggage was so important for you, then we are sorry about the fact that our barman did not help you, but you also did not come to the right place. On another level, your remark about the cleanliness of the bathroom is extremely surprising: Our hotel was built in 1965, and obviously, some bathrooms are not new, BUT in no way they are NOT clean. We have very high standards of cleanliness in our hotel since the start, and we personally revise the rooms before each check-in of the guests. This is also the reason why, sometimes, I am not sitting at the reception: I am supervising the process of work in our hotel. Saying that the bathroom floor is not clean because it is not new is completely not logic. We bought and run this hotel since 5 years only, this hotel was built and maintained by other people, and since we have it, every year with NO exception we do some renovations to make our home more and more beautiful for our guests. This winter we are having a big refurbish that you can see on our facebook page. I assure you that bathrooms are on the list of renovations, but, believe me, renewing all the hotel is a very big investment and not affordable at once, and for this we need some time. Speaking about internet, dear Klaus, you have probably visited our website: there is written perfectly clearly that not all of our rooms have windows. Here it is also unfair to mention that point. In the case of “extreme” importance to have a window, you should have mentioned this point at the time of your reservation. We would have either suggested you a room with a window or simply said that at the time of your visit, no room with window was available In reality, if you think about it: our hotel has no corridors. Sometimes you might think that in all hotels, you must enter by the door from a corridor and find a window or exit to the balcony but it is not always the case. In Villa Columbus, there are no corridors at all. That’s the charm many guests speak about! You have a direct access to your room from the terrace or the balcony and this way you may feel close to nature. All the entrances to the rooms have two doors: one is made 90% of cristal glass and the other one is blind. You can have one door closed or both depending on the light you want to have in your room. If you think about it, you would understand that you are not in a common place but rather in a hotel that was designed a little bit differently. At the hotel, we tried all possibilities to make you, our guest, satisfied. We offered you another room, which had a window and a huge balcony, but still you were not satisfied, because, as your wife said, there was only one writing table and one chair to sit on. Again, please, I kindly ask you to understand that you reserved a holiday in a 2 star hotel, where you have all the necessary and renewed furniture in the rooms, all rooms have new orthopaedic mattresses, new white bed linen, air conditioning, full size fridge, safe. But it is close to impossible to get a living room in a standard Double room of a 2 star hotel. Here again, I think your expectations were unfair. A 2 star hotel will never provide you with the facilities of a 4 star hotel, or of an apart-hotel. You decided to leave the hotel, anyway. We did the most that could for you. Even though you decided to leave, and even though it was our right to charge you the whole stay, we did not do that as you said and I am going to explain you why: Our hotel is a business and we obviously have to make money but I assure you, dear Klaus, we do not want 1euro from a guest who has some unsatisfactory service. You correctly mentioned that we did not make you pay any penalty as we could have. That is only because we sincerely believe that money should be made humanely and in this particular case, we thought that it was not fair from us to make You pay. This is the way we work. I see that this does not go two ways as you took the time to write this review and what is in it and I am very sorry about that, but believe me, dear Klaus, it is not at all about “us” that I am sorry about.
