Good afternoon, I would like to express my view also in writing regarding the incident which took place at the swimming pool of Ibiscus Hotel, involving one of our employees in her capacity as safety supervisor, since I am her employer and liable party. During a thorough discussion with her on this issue, according to her description of the incident, the child suddenly let go of his mother’s hand and jumped into the water, with his father diving subsequently himself in the pool, in order to get the child out. All this happened within 10 seconds. The mistake of our employee, which we clearly acknowledge, was that she stood frozen, without approaching or getting near to the incident, hence not showing her interest in what was happening at that time by being physically present, although she had watched the entire incident. The reason for her attitude, namely her lack of reaction, was that, in general, the hotel customers were somehow not accustomed to bathing facility rules and safety supervisor recommendations. Therefore, all the previous days, as well as on that same day, twice prior to the incident, our employee had made recommendations to various bathers with children about diving head first, and they, on their turn, responded in a somehow emotionally challenging manner, including expressions such as: 1. “don’t bother, this is our responsibility”; 2. “No need to worry about it, we are watching them”, etc. As she said, she has now overcome this and carries on with her polite recommendations; she is more active and in case of a similar incident will definitely come to the guest’s aid, regardless of any reactions encountered previously. Regarding the use of her mobile phone, she confessed that she was using it only at times when nobody was using the swimming pool. Our opinion is that she must not use it all during her presence at the swimming pool, with the exception of any urgent situations, in order to avoid giving grounds for such comments. Thank you for your understanding. For the Board of Directors, Ionas Dimitrios Chairman
