Das Nest Hotel in Lürderitz, liegt am Rand von Lüderitz. Wer sich unter Lüderitz eine Großstadt am Atlantik vorstellt, liegt hier ziemlich daneben. Lüderitz ist ein ruhiges Städtchen mit ca. 18.000 Einwohnern. Es gibt mehrere Supermärkte in der Stadt und 3 Restaurants. Leider waren wir an einem Sonntag in der Stadt und genau da hatte 1 Restaurant geschlossen. Die Supermärkte hatten aber trotzdem geöffnet. Vom Hotel erreicht man in ca. 45 Minuten Diaz Point. Eine Halbinsel mit einem Leuchtturm. Zu dem Zeitpunkt als wir diesen erreichten war der Wind so stark geworden, dass man kaum noch aufrecht laufen konnte. Der Pool im Innenhof ist windgeschützt und eignet sich daher zum entspannen. Das Wasser war allerdings sehr frisch. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Untergeschoss, das fast auf Meereshöhe lag. Der winzige Balkon lag ca. 3-4m vom Wasser entfernt.

Our hotel was constructed directly on the rocks on Lüderitz Bay and was especially designed to provide maximum protection from the natural elements. This is why you fully enjoyed our beautiful green gardens which surround our sparkling swimming pools. Our hotel has 3 floors; Ground (sea/beach level), floor 1 & floor 2. Your room was on the beach level/ground floor. Our locally acclaimed restaurant as you experienced is open every day of the week and from 0700 to 22.00 – it is the only full service restaurant in Lüderitz. We also have the upper deck Crayfish Bar Lounge offering various menus including fresh Lüderitz oysters, lobster and abalone. Lüderitz is a town of approx. 25000 and as you say, one would not imagine a town in such a wild location but due to Adolf Lüderitz back in 1884, he saw the potential of the area with its natural harbour. With the discovery of diamonds in 1908 at nearby Kolmanskuppe, the town became one of the richest towns in the world with hospital, the first X-Ray machine in the southern hemisphere, bowling alley, casino and ice making factory – unique. Please take note that the Lüderitz Nest Hotel received the award of TOP RESORT HOTEL NAMIBIA 2013 as well as the Trip Advisor Excellence award.
