Stone Village Petrino Horio

The very nice hotel. It is stylish and gives you an impression that your live in the village. However one should be prepared to some "minimalism". If one likes luxury chains like Mariot or Hilton I would not take this one. But it really provides different feeling. The hotel is made from 1-2 flour separate buildings out of stone. Most of guests are from Germany (60-70%). We definitely recommend this hotel to feel something different. It is not a luxury one but in the good harmony with Greek style and atmosphere.

We had apartment with 2 bad rooms. Quite big in size. The furniture is quite old and needs some repair. TV is 14 inch and also from stone age :-). But all these points are minor and easy tolerable. There is a very useful fully equipped kitchen with all cutlery and crockery staff, coffee maker and boiling kettle.This is definitely a strong good point of service.

Serves the idea of minimalism. Breakfast very often lacks fruits and contains always the same ingredients. We would grant the breakfast the lowest 3 star level one can get in Germany. Dinner looks better and served in a-la-carte style. They have a full menu for a high season and restricted for lower (starts mid of September). Within 2 weeks it gets boring to eat the very same. The quality is good. I would strongly recommend not to take half-board aned have your own look. One can get the very same dishes at very good price (6-7 Euro main dish) and room charge service. Money will be plus/minus the same but you will get freedom in choice where to eat.

The staff is extremely friendly. Every question or problem (there are always some) were taken seriously and with care. You have a family like treatment.Some of the hotel staff members can speak fluent German. English is spoken by everyone. Cleaning is moderate.

Quite far from the see. The car is a kind of MUST if you are not a hiking fan. It takes about 40 min to get to the place from Heraklion (50 Euro per taxi). Bali is located in the middle of the island. Please keep min mind that traveling to the very west or east will take more than 150 km and driving in Greece is not the German autobahn :-). For some excursions one has to start at 4-5 am.

There are 2 pool, quite small and suitable only for kids. There is no animation. The Wi-Fi Internet (2 mbps) is free near reception and every room has LAN plug-in (the question remained open weather it works or not). There is a small Zoo on the territory. You can get donkey ride for kids entertaining .
