Infos Catedral Metropolitana

Die dreischiffige "Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción" ist das beherrschende Bauwerk an der Plaza Juan de Salazar (Plaza de la Constitución). Sie wurde Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts nach den Plänen des Architekten Alejandro Ravizza im neoklassizistischen Stil anstelle einer Adobe-Kirche aus dem Jahr 1539 gebaut und am 27. Oktober 1845 geweiht. Sehenswert sind der aus Holz geschnitzte und versilberte barocke Hauptalter sowie die alten silbernen Kandelaber.
