The Cignella Estate, a stunning private resort located in the rolling hills of the Valdichiana, was originally built and used as a pig rearing farm over 200 years ago. As agricultural needs changed, the farm fell into disrepair and the current owners, seeing its potential, wanted to share its wonderful location with the world and so they began working to convert the old farm into luxury accommodation for those looking to explore the hill top towns of Tuscany. A car is recommended when joining us at Cignella and all guests are offered private, designated parking. The Cignella Estate you see today has been lovingly renovated in the same footprint as the old farm, with the original farmhouse still standing. The roofs, rafters and beams have been skilfully restored using local materials and traditional techniques so their appearance is the same as centuries ago. With a genuine interest in the style of Cignella and ensuring Tuscan culture and heritage was conveyed throughout the properties, everything you see today including the furniture, paintings and soft furnishings, have been personally sourced by the owners and their family, from outlets and boutiques in the surrounding countryside.

The Cignella Resort was born from the transformation of an old pig rearing farm, set between the Val d'Orcia and the Val di Chiana, two of the most beautiful and famous valleys in the Province of Siena, with more than 200 years of history. Left abandoned when that business became unprofitable, the present owners were struck by the unique position and picture postcard views and set about creating a modern resort where a traditional Tuscan stay blends with the more modern ideals of today’s traveller. Without neglecting any detail, and with an eye to the conservation of all the typical architectural elements, the transformation of the estate began, using the original materials, such as roof beams and century old farmhouse stones, with traditional techniques to preserve their appearance of two centuries ago. Today the Cignella Resort is the perfect starting point for those who want to experience the heart of Tuscany. Each accommodation overlooks a large garden that almost acts as a square whilst at the same time everyone has their own terrace on which to spend moments of tranquility with loved ones. Here you can experience local life and discover the Province of Siena with its villages and famous hills.

Our Wine Bar is the perfect spot for those who want to taste the typical flavours of Tuscany. We serve wines from a selection of great nearby vineyards as well as the more world renowned names, and a variety of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. And we offer some delicious local cheeses, prosciutto and typical Tuscan bruschette to accompany and enhance the experience! An evening with friends and family sipping a great Brunello or a local grappa taking in the breathtaking views from our terrace is not to be missed! We also serve a delicious breakfast here every morning
