Off the beaten track

It seems unusual to take a hot bath in a country where the temperatures call for air condition. I passed this one by surprise and followed the sign. The place was tranquil and almost empty in late April. Entry was 50 Baht, there were changing cubicles and two showers. All a bit run down, but the water is the main thing. There are four basins, with one being so hot you could probably poach an egg in there. Signs in Thai and English announce how to use the facility. It reminded me quite a bit of sauna procedures - which it basically is, only in wet. Cooldown could be a bit of a challenge, in over 30 degree weather there is not much found to further the attempt. A pleasurable experience that came as a welcome surpise. Definitely worth the detour.
